Cody Rhodes brought a revolution in the wrestling industry when he joined hands with Tony Khan to create a wrestling promotion that could challenge the global juggernaut WWE, All Elite Wrestling, also known as AEW, to the fans.
The American Nightmare left WWE when he was unsatisfied with his position and booking in WWE in 201. Upon leaving the global juggernaut, Rhodes carved out a main event career worldwide, picking up championships in New Japan and Ring of Honor before founding AEW. Rhodes left AEW in 2022, but plenty of dream matches remain for him there.
Let us take a look at four Cody Rhodes dream matches in AEW that never happened:
1. Miro vs. Cody Rhodes
Much like Cody Rhodes, Miro, who used to be known as Rusev in the WWE, was not satisfied with his mid-card career. Despite becoming wildly popular with the WWE Universe on several occasions, Miro did not get a proper push in WWE, which could have elevated his career to a whole new level.
After years of growing frustrations with the company, Miro finally decided to step out of the global juggernaut and signed with AEW in hopes of getting better bookings. Miro debuted on AEW TV to huge fanfare, but one dream match that AEW missed out on was a match between him and The American Nightmare.
2. Samoa Joe vs. Cody Rhodes
One wrestler who did not get booked in the WWE up to their full potential was Samoa Joe. The former NXT Champion won several accolades in NXT but did not get the shining stars on his main roster run with the company.
Samoa Joe made his debut on the AEW television program with huge fanfare. He went on to have several dream matches with several top stars in the company, including a match with CM Punk, but one match that AEW missed out on was a match with Cody Rhodes as Rhodes left the company before Joe could make his mark in AEW.
3. Sonny Kiss vs. Cody Rhodes
There was quite a movement on various social media platforms with the arrival of Sonny Kiss to AEW. It seemed like a groundswell of support was brewing for Kiss, and it only increased with more he started competing in the wrestling promotion.
Sonny Kiss was booked pretty well during his tenure in the AEW before being released from the company. However, one match that AEW officials missed out on, which could have been booked easily since the two were available on the roster together, was a match between Cody Rhodes and Sonny Kiss. One of the biggest Cody Rhodes dream matches that will never happen in AEW is against Sonny Kiss.
4. Hangman Adam Page vs. Cody Rhodes
Hangman Adam Page could easily be regarded as one of the most talented and skilled professionals to ever wrestle in All Elite Wrestling. Hangman could be named as one of the pillars who worked hard and cemented AEW’s position in the wrestling industry against WWE.
With all the time on the roster when they were together, it is shocking to realize that the fans never got a proper one-on-one match between Adam Page and Cody Rhodes. This match remains one of the biggest Cody Rhodes dream matches that fans have clamoured for on several occasions in the past. Whenever this match occurs, it will surely be a blockbuster affair between two of the all-time greats.
