Cody Rhodes has reigned supreme as possibly WWE’s new poster boy. Ever since he triumphed over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 for the Undisputed WWE title in the main event, The Prodigal Son has established himself as one of the top attractions of the modern era.
The American Nightmare’s popularity and fame can be measured by the sold-out WWE shows, staggering merchandise sales, and undeniable connection with the WWE Universe. Moreover, Cody Rhodes has earned a lot of respect from various people in the wrestling business, which also got him a special present from one of the most renowned podcasters in the industry.
Why did a nice gift upset Cody Rhodes?
The popular MMA host, Ariel Helwani, was joined by The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes as a guest on his podcast, ‘The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.’ Rhodes recounted the gift that Ariel Helwani and his team gave to him last year before WrestleMania 39.
The team gifted a special weight belt to Cody Rhodes. Although he felt immense upon receiving the gift from them, Rhodes admitted that he also used to feel sad upon looking at it for an entire year on his bus since he failed to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at the event and felt he let down everybody in the process.
“Do you know how bad I feel when I go on my bus and look at the weight belt that you gave me last year this unbelievable nice gift that your team got me saying finish the story and I didn’t finish the story.”
Of course, Rhodes did overcome the emotion after his epic triumph at WrestleMania 40 this year to win the WWE championship and ‘Finish The Story.’ On his work front, Cody Rhodes is embroiled in a feud with AJ Styles after The Phenomenal One faked his retirement and attacked Rhodes on Friday Night SmackDown two weeks ago.
The duo are now set to collide against each other again following the events on SmackDown this week. However, this time, it would take place at the upcoming PLE in Scotland, WWE Clash at the Castle 2024, with the stipulation being an ‘I Quit Match.‘
