Cody Rhodes had quite a journey from the bottom of the roster to becoming the Golden Boy for the WWE. The American Nightmare has solidified his position on the top of the marquee as the face of the global juggernaut after he dethroned Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion at WrestleMania 40.
The American Nightmare shocked the world when he jumped ship from the rival promotion AEW to the WWE at WrestleMania 38 in 2022 and defeated Seth Freakin’ Rollins in the process. The current Undisputed WWE Champion and the first-ever WWE World Champion share a lot of history, from being involved in a heated rivalry with each other to becoming each other’s backup and facing Roman Reigns and The Rock in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Day One, there has been quite an evolution of the relationship that they share.
Cody Rhodes compares the relationship with 5-time WWE Champion using the Ric Flair-Cody Rhodes equation
Upon his mega return to the global juggernaut, Rhodes’ first major feud came against Seth Rollins, with whom The Prodigal Son battled thrice and took the victory home every single time. However, the two have come a long way since then, and Rollins backed up The American Nightmare in his battle against Roman Reigns and The Rock to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
Recently, while speaking with Ariel Helwani on his podcast ‘The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani‘, Cody Rhodes detailed his relationship with Seth Rollins, comparing it with what his dad Dusty Rhodes shared with Ric Flair. The American Nightmare revealed that even though they were at each other’s throats while performing at the peak of their respective careers, they still shared that mutual bond of love and respect between each other, just like his dad and Ric Flair did.
“But we don’t have to not be uh respectful and even friends we we can we can be that my dad and Ric Flair were at each other’s throats all for years years two decades they were at their best when they were at each other’s throats competitively but they remained loving and respectful if that makes any sense.”
Seth Rollins proved to be a big help for The American Nightmare. Not only did he back him up against The Final Boss and the Tribal Chief, but he was also extremely crucial in Rhodes’ victory over the reigns when he took down The Bloodline to even the odds. Right now, Cody Rhodes is living his dream of being an Undisputed WWE Champion, and Seth Rollins has been healing from his back injury.
