WWE is gearing up to deliver their very first Premium Live Event after WrestleMania 40, WWE Backlash France, set to take place in Lyon, France on May 5th, Saturday. This will mark The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes’s first PLE as the Undisputed WWE Champion with title defense set to be against The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles.
There have been some major turn of events in WWE lately as this will mark the very first WWE PLE in over four years when The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns won’t be a champion in WWE. Moreover, multiple championships are set to be defended at WWE Backlash and here we will talk about four champions that we could see after this major WWE Premium Live Event in France.
1. The American Nightmare will continue his Reign
Cody Rhodes is up for a tough title defense against The Phenomenal AJ Styles in France. A multi-time WWE Champion and world-renowned wrestler himself, one cannot bet against a former member of the Bullet Club. AJ Styles returned to WWE programming last January and is in the best shape of his entire career.
AJ Styles is training extremely intensely for his match against The Prodigal Son, Cody Rhodes as evidenced by his workouts lately. Furthermore, the match is going to be historic as Styles also competed against Cody’s father late great Dusty Rhodes back in TNA in 2009. However, this would be too early for Cody to drop the title as he is just gearing up to become the next WWE flagship star with WWE Backlash witnessing the Kingdom of Rhodes standing its ground still.
2. Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair win the Tag Titles
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair are evidently regarded as a dream team that WWE fans have seen and now they are set to face the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, The Kabuki Warriors at WWE Backlash France in a high-stakes tag team match.
The Storm and The EST of WWE’s title win will certainly elevate the WWE women’s tag team division to new heights after Jade had a strong debut at Royal Rumble followed by an amazing showing at WrestleMania 40 and Bianca being a remarkable and accomplished athlete herself. Having said that, we could see new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions on the horizon.
3. Tiffany Stratton wins the WWE Women’s Championship
Tiffany Stratton has proved herself that she can hang with the best that WWE has to offer. Pitting her against Becky Lynch of all people in NXT elevated Tiffy’s stocks to all-new heights. Recently in an interview, The Buff Barbie of WWE admitted getting her sense of confidence and belief back after her encounter with The Man.
Stratton debuted on the main roster on Friday Night SmackDown right after having a strong showing in the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match and is now set to face Bayley and Naomi for the WWE Women’s Championship at WWE Backlash. Looking at Tiffany’s skyrocketing popularity with every passing day, it won’t come as a shock if the Center of the Universe wins the title in France and solidifies her status as a main event attraction for WWE.
4. Damian Priest retains his World Title
Damian Priest fulfilled his lifelong dream at WrestleMania 40 when he won the WWE World Championship from Drew McIntyre. The Archer of Infamy did so after successfully cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on The Scottish Warrior at the Grandest Stage of Them all.
Following that, Jey Uso won a fatal four-way match to earn the right to challenge Priest for his coveted World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Backlash France. The leader of the YEET movement is among some of the most popular stars in WWE and a heavy favorite to win the bout. But right now, Damian Priest is on the rise as a champion and seems like an unstoppable force who will do everything required to retain his championship in his first title defense in France.
