The December 12 edition of WWE RAW presented the special 10-year anniversary of one of the greatest factions of all time, The New Day. However, this night will always be remembered as one of the most shocking and heartbreaking nights in the history of WWE.
The celebrations planned came amidst the ongoing heated tensions that had been prevalent between The New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Both superstars had been blaming each other for the team’s recent failures. Moreover, last week on WWE RAW, the fans had one of the biggest back-and-forth rants between Woods and Kingston, where both men downgraded each other like never before.
What made this segment so heartbreaking on WWE RAW?
Regardless, both men were ready for celebrations. The ringside area was decorated with their memorabilia from pancakes, Booty O’s, and pictures of their highlight moments as RAW General Manager Adam Pearce first welcomed Kingston and Woods. The duo grabbed the mic to address the milestone and expressed gratitude to the WWE Universe for showering support for the last ten years.
However, as Kingston and Woods appeared to be announcing some not-so-pleasant news considering their recent tensions and future as a unit, Big E made a surprise return to complete the trio after a long time. The former WWE Champion acknowledged the prevailing problems between his allies and reflected on their past, where they stood by each other, close as brothers.
Following his heartfelt speech for his New Day brothers, Big E announced that he would be with them every week as Woods and Kingston’s manager until he is medically cleared for in-ring action. However, much to the shock of everyone, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston berated Big E for leaving them, dismissing his case for suffering a broken neck and labelled him as a “burden.”
Xavier Woods laid the final nail in the coffin, claiming that Big E knows that he will never be cleared for in-ring action and asked him to leave. Big E visibly shattered left the ring with Kingston and Woods proclaiming that it was just them as The New Day now, in one of the most heartbreaking moments in WWE history.
