Cody Rhodes is carving out one of the most remarkable careers in wrestling history. He has become a fixture on WWE television and one of the most profitable superstars of this generation. His record-breaking merchandise sales, sold-out shows, and deep connection with the WWE Universe underscore his immense popularity.
At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes achieved a monumental victory by defeating Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion, thereby “Finishing The Story.” This triumph was not without its challenges; Rhodes faced numerous obstacles on his path to the championship. Beyond conquering The Tribal Chief, he also had to overcome his iconic cousin The Rock, but had an interesting choice of words towards his approach of building a personal brand.
What did Cody Rhodes reveal about The Rock’s exceptional approach to building his personal brand?
While feuding with The Rock, Cody Rhodes was able to assess some of the key aspects that The Final Boss had which made me such a highly successful individual. Even though The American Nightmare did not like him, it did not stop him from learning and acquiring knowledge from The People’s Champ.
During a conversation with the popular MMA host Ariel Helwani on his podcast, ‘The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani’, Rhodes revealed The Rock’s exceptional approach that helped him to make his personal brand. He stated that the approach that helped The Rock with his personal brand is that he is surrounded by such a huge group of teams that helps The Final Boss to work on his different ventures and brands so effectively.
“It also doesn’t surprise me because he has 60 people around him at all times I thought it was him and Brian on oh my gosh Brian’s there but it’s what a team he’s developed you really are a product of the team you put around me I have a small team you know they’re not as uh you know we don’t roll as deep as him but it’s important those people that prop you up and support you like the rock is built up by that he has a great team.”
The American Nightmare is following The Rock’s footsteps and has been learning from different people on his journey to the top. On the work front, Cody Rhodes is embroiled in a heated feud with The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles with whom he is set to go one-on-one in an ‘I Quit’ match at WWE Clash at the Castle 2024 for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
