WWE and AEW are two of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world. However, the global giant has never worked with any other wrestling promotions under previous Chairman Vince McMahon. But with Triple H at the helm of the management as WWE Chief Content Officer, WWE has started developing working partnerships with other wrestling promotions, the most recent example being the crossover with TNA.
Although a collaboration between WWE and AEW is improbable, it will undoubtedly result in some blockbuster dream matches. Let us take a look at a few of the dream matches that might take place if AEW and WWE ever choose to work together:
1. The Battle of the Role Models
Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., is one of the major stars in the AEW locker room. While sharing her inspiration for becoming a professional wrestler despite already having a stable career as a dentist, Britt revealed that the match between Sasha Banks and Bayley at NXT Take Over Brooklyn inspired her to become a professional wrestler.
Moreover, the former AEW Women’s World Champion has revealed in several interviews that Sasha Banks and Bayley are her two dream matches. The dentist is all set to get one of those dream matches now, as she is expected to feud with Mercedes Mone, who was formerly known as Sasha Banks. If WWE and AEW ever choose to work together, we might see a dream match between Bayley and Britt Baker as well.
2. The Visionary meets The Aerial Assassin
WWE’s Seth Freakin’ Rollins and AEW’s Will Ospreay were involved in a heated batter on the social media platform X a few years ago. Since then, the fans have been clamouring for a showdown between two of the best in the history of professional wrestling.
Furthermore, Will Ospreay and Seth Rollins have a newfound respect for each other and their skills. They even had some hard words for each other in past interviews, which the duo could potentially use to bring more heat to their match if it ever takes place in the future. Therefore, a match between these two will result in one of the finest matches in the history of professional wrestling.
3. The American Nightmare battles Jon Moxley
Cody Rhodes shocked the world when he returned to the WWE in 2022 at WrestleMania 38. Ever since then, The Prodigal Son has gone on to reach new heights in the company and has earned several accolades. Later, Rhodes was able to dethrone The Head of the Table, Roman Reigns, to win the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40.
Both Jon Moxley and Cody Rhodes left WWE when they felt that they were not satisfied with their status in the company. The duo went on to make a mark in AEW. However, Cody Rhodes chose to return to WWE to ‘Finish The Story’, and Moxley remained in AEW to become a cornerstone figure for the promotion. A match between the two would bring a great dynamic and be a dream match for wrestling fans, with Cody Rhodes completing his trifecta of battling all members of The Shield.
4. The Storm collides with The CEO
Mercedes Mone and Jade Cargill are two of the biggest wrestlers in the wrestling world. While Mercedes Mone has shattered the glass ceilings and has blazed the trail, Jade Cargill is undoubtedly walking on it and has proven herself a significant draw for the wrestling business.
Mercedes Mone and Jade Cargill never crossed paths with each other. Cargill signed with WWE a year after the current TBS Champion left WWE, and Mercedes joined AEW after Cargill’s exit from the company. However, a match between the two most decorated superstars will be a blockbuster showdown that will bring more eyes to the product.
5. The Tribal Chief goes head-to-head with The Cleaner
Roman Reigns has been established as one of the greatest wrestlers of this generation. The Tribal Chief is a proven draw who has consistently outdrawn his competition and brought financial success and attention to the product. On the other hand, Kenny Omega is Roman Reigns’ equivalent to AEW. Though he might not have been as big of a draw as Roman, The Cleaner has most certainly proven himself as the biggest draw on AEW television consistently.
Kenny Omega has always praised Roman Reigns and what he has achieved in this business. He has never ruled out the possibility of facing him in a one-on-one match someday. So, a match between two of the absolute best of this generation could result in an all-time draw that could potentially main event any arena in the world.
