WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024 saw the coronation of the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion. The tournament for the new women’s title began a few weeks ago at the unveiling of SmackDown’s new secondary title for their division. At the return of the vintage event, it was Chelsea Green who outlasted her bitter rival, Michin, in the finals to claim her first piece of singles gold in WWE finally.
The WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament saw top SmackDown female talent compete for a chance to make history. On the final SmackDown before WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024, Chelsea Green defeated Bayley, and Michin put down Miss Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton to make it to the finals of the tournament.
This set the clash between the two heated foes for the US title, who had been competing against each other for a few months now, with one of their main highlights being their infamous Dumpster match on SmackDown.
Chelsea Green creates history at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024
Chelsea Green walked into the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum with confidence and flair, not to mention her tag team partner, Piper Niven, by her side. On the other hand, Michin was ready to prove her doubters wrong by taking down one of her top rivals and becoming the first-ever title holder in the WWE Women’s United States Championship at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024.
The two female superstars went up against each other in impressive fashion. Michin brought her raw power, street style and incredible athleticism against the conniving tactics of the cocky Chelsea Green. Moreover, Piper Niven’s presence at ringside proved to be a disadvantage for Michin, who even took her down with a slam while the referee was distracted. Regardless of that, Michin fought valiantly as the chance to make history hung in the balance. She had the upper hand on Chelsea Green for the majority of the match, even taking Piper Niven out of the equation.
As the action came down to its final moments, Piper Niven came back, and Michin took her out. But this gave Chelsea Green the opening to hit her finisher, the Unprettier and score the pinfall to become the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion. This also marked seven years since Chelsea won her very first championship in wrestling, which was also against Michin. With her huge victory, Chelsea Green much deservingly won her first singles title in WWE, embarking on a new chapter in her career.
