Friday Night SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made a historic announcement on last week’s edition of SmackDown that WWE will crown its first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion and also revealed the look of the title. This development will bring opportunities for the women in the division who have been craving to prove their talent to the world for a long time.
The introduction of this brand-new title brings an end to the outcry of women’s wrestling fans, who have been demanding a secondary title for the division for a very long time for the talent in the division who necessarily weren’t getting the spotlight to shine if they weren’t part of the main title feud. But now the question that every WWE fan has is, will the WWE Women’s United States Championship elevate the women’s division?
Will the WWE Women’s United States Championship Elevate WWE Women’s Division?
Adding a new title to the game means creating more opportunities for talent by giving them something more to fight and compete for. The addition of the WWE Women’s United States Championship to the roster is definitely a step in the right direction for the growth of the division. However, this all boils down to how the title and the person holding the title will be booked to know if this championship will elevate the WWE women’s division or not.
Since taking over the WWE as Chief Content Officer, Triple H has been largely praised for his work and how he is handling the product, however, the WWE Universe has largely been critical of how he has booked the WWE women’s division so far in his tenure which has largely left most of the fanbase completely unsatisfied.
Having a new championship to fight for will bring the opportunities that superstars like Michin, Candice LeRae, Naomi, and several others have been asking for since if they haven’t been the part of main title storyline then they do not have anything to do which has been evident on the RAW roster as the program between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan has left the rest of the division getting neglected as they haven’t been built up as legitimate threats, which is not the fault of the superstars involved but the booking itself.
In conclusion, it comes down to how well WWE officials and creatives would be able to book the title and champion to understand if the title will really elevate the WWE Women’s division or not.
