Paul Levesque better known by his ring name Triple H has made one of the most remarkable careers in the history of professional wrestling. From starting his career as the Blueblood Hunter Hearst Hemsley in the mid-90s, rising up to the ranks of becoming a main event superstar carving out a WWE Hall of fame worthy career and further transitioning into a fully-fledged corporate role in the company, WWE’s Triple H has seemingly done it all. Since the beginning of his corporate role as WWE Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development, The Game began wrestling occasionally in the ring, mostly during big number PPV shows with his last in-ring televised match being at Wrestlemania against his long time rival and former Evolution cohort, Dave Batista picking up his first-ever victory over The Animal who announced his retirement from professional wrestling the day after the match.

The King of Kings days inside the squared circle already looked numbered with his corporate duties, but his recent cardiac event caused by a genetic heart issue may be indicative that his wrestling career is done.  Dave Meltzer in an update has described his situation to be very serious as reported by a source.

HHH’s WWE duties are reportedly on a halt and it is yet to be seen when he decides to resume. The WWE Hall of Famer was recently spotted visiting the site of the new WWE HQ offices with other WWE officials and also issued a statement regarding his health and well-being.

While it seems unlikely that the Cerebral Assassin would step back into the ring due to health concerns, the wrestling fans could always hope and pray that he recovers well and at some point in the future be physically and mentally prepared to have perhaps the last run of his illustrious career with some of the most prolific matches that the WWE Universe wants to see.

Here are our Top 5 picks for Triple H matches that could happen in the future:

This match can be considered an instant classic if The King of Strong Style Shinsuke Nakamura and The King of Kings Triple H ever competed in a one-on-one match with two different worlds of wrestling colliding inside the WWE ring. No one can forget the rich history involved between the two superstars as it was The Game’s corporate move to bring the Japanese sensation to his home turf, WWE NXT in 2016.

It was under Triple H’s regime that the former IWGP Heavyweight champion enjoyed considerable success on the former black and gold brand reigning as a two-time NXT Champion delivering some of the most classic wrestling bouts and further moved on to the main roster accomplishing many other accolades in the process.

Both Superstars have stood across each other inside the wrestling ring in opposite teams during the traditional 5 on 5 Survivor Series elimination match in 2017 giving a short preview to the WWE Universe on what an actual one-on-one match between the two superstars could look like.

The brief encounter between the two Kings was met with a great reception by the wrestling fans which could surely mean that this match has the potential to be one of the most memorable wrestling matches in the history of the WWE.

4. Finn Balor

We all know that Triple H’s creative regime in NXT has produced some of the best WWE Superstars of today. Making his place in the top section of that illustrious list is indeed The Prince, Finn Balor.

Finn was brought in by The Game in 2014 to the brand and has been a consistent force of motivation and support even in his most difficult phases of life. He opened up about working with Triple H in an interview:

"Working with him has been absolutely fantastic. I came to WWE about six years ago with a lot of uncertainty. There were expectations, but personally, I was uncertain how it was going to go. I feel like myself and Triple H struck an understanding early on in my career at NXT. It has grown and developed. He is someone I can say I’ve spent in and out of the ring more than anyone else. I trust his direction and take his advice. He’s someone I feel very fortunate to have developed a friendship with the last couple of years."

The Prince and The King of Kings have been a part of a main event tag team match in 2017 where Finn teamed up with Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn to defeat the team of Triple H, Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens at a house show in White Plains, New York.

The most memorable moment of the entire match was Hunter offering Balor a too sweet gesture to which the Demon King responded with his signature finger gun with the crowding going wild witnessing a faceoff that they thought would surely be an exceptionally great match in the future billed as  Creator vs Creation.

3. Keith Lee

During his first tenure in the WWE, Bobby Lashley was perceived to be the next breakout star of the industry. While he did feud with two members of the McMahon family over the ECW championship namely Vince and Shane McMahon during his first run, he never crossed paths with Triple H in any type of match, who was an active superstar at the time.

He made his return to the WWE in 2017 after successful runs on the independent circuit,  Impact Wrestling and a short spell at Bellator MMA.

Triple H was the one to present Lashley with the opportunity to come back to the company sighting that he was impressed with Lashley’s well-maintained physique and knew that WWE could offer him more money and better opportunities once his contract with IMPACT expired.

"When he saw me he was like, 'damn, you look almost better than you did when you were here before.' He said there's a tremendous amount of money to be made and we'd love to see you come back."
His current persona of being The Almighty and run as the WWE Champion has transcended him to main event status. So if The Game does decide to step back inside the squared circle, a match with Bobby Lashley could surely draw a lot of attention and become a marquee match on any WWE show.

2. Drew McIntyre

While Triple H is regarded for bringing and developing some of the brightest talents into future superstars of WWE, Drew McIntyre surely is one of his biggest success stories. After he was released in 2014, McIntyre had a career resurgence wrestling in various promotions.
He credited Triple H for his WWE return and said that if it was not for The Game, he would not have been back with the wrestling giant. McIntyre was pursuing a move to Japan before his 40-minute long conversation with WWE Executive and was completely sure that he was returning to the WWE.
I wouldn’t be back in WWE if it wasn’t for Triple H, it’s as simple as that. William Regal put me on the phone with him, we talked for 40 minutes, within that conversation at the beginning I wasn’t sure if I was going to come back, I was honestly leaning more towards Japan and by the end of it, I was 100% coming back. The thing that meant the most to me was not just how far I’d come professionally but how far I’d come as a man and how proud he was of me, and that kind of meant a lot because I have so much respect for him and that’s grown into a friendship today, and he really is somebody who is not just a friend to a lot of people but a father figure to a lot of people, and again the news caught everybody off guard but he’s got a lot of positive energy coming his way right now and he’s going to be fine, which I’m very happy to hear,"

McIntyre was quoted as saying by Inside The Ropes

McIntyre was even asked about a potential dream match with Triple H in a Q&A Twitter session in 2020:

The Game always likes to congratulate superstars on certain occasions with a backstage picture every now and then. Drew had ribbed him at that time when he won the NXT championship by stating that his feud with Hunter had been brewing ever since he ditched the iconic finger point he usually used in that kind of pictures and settled for a handshake.

That could perhaps be the starting point of a great rivalry if WWE decides to go with Triple H vs McIntyre storyline and if he himself recovers well enough to be a part of this stellar match.

1. AJ Styles

If there is truly a dream showdown left in the careers of Triple H and AJ Styles, it is perhaps against each other. Styles had stated that he has signed his last wrestling contract and is on the last run of his long and storied career while Triple H for many years has made part-time appearances inside the ring due to his corporate role of developing the WWE for the future.

Ever since he debuted in the WWE in 2016, The Phenomenal One had an impressive list of opponents at its premier show, Wrestlemania wrestling the likes of Chris Jericho, Shane McMahon, Randy Orton and The Undertaker. He made it known that he wanted to wrestle HHH in a classic showdown at Wrestlemania 37.

Triple H did reveal that Styles had approached him for this mega match during the Wrestlemania season and why he had to turn it down:

With Triple H on the sidelines due to his ongoing cardiac event treatment, this dream match looks to be less and less likely in the future. We could only hope that HHH could recuperate well from his heart condition soon enough till the Phenomenal One is around and the fans could finally witness this once-in-a-lifetime match in a packed stadium between two of the greatest superstars to ever step foot inside the wrestling ring.
