Cody Rhodes has persevered through trials and tribulations to achieve his dream of winning the Undisputed WWE Championship. The American Nightmare worked his way to the top of the industry and went from undesirable to undeniable in the world of professional wrestling.

However, on his journey to chase the championship glory, Cody Rhodes suffered a major shoulder injury before his huge Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins which has its own untold story that the fans are not much aware of.

What was the untold story that Cody Rhodes revealed?

The current Undisputed WWE Champion was a special guest on Matt Cardona and Brian Myers’ popular podcast ‘The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast‘. Cody Rhodes detailed his struggles with his pectoral muscle injury before his huge match with Seth Rollins at WWE Hell in a Cell 2022.

Cody Rhodes revealed that while he was struggling with the pain, he went to the training room backstage and got two baby aspirins to mitigate his pain and recalled in the middle of the match. He further stated that he had a feeling of puking in front of everyone but somehow managed to get through the pain and earned himself a standing ovation from the entire crowd.

“I was hoping for some extra strength tile and all I was hoping something but when I went to it was Larry in the training room looking for some anti-inflammatories I was given and I kid you not two two baby aspirin that is that two baby aspirins and and I happy to have him and then right in the early part of the match I thought I was going to puke because it’s that feeling like when you’ve been punched in the nose or when it’s so like when you’ve been hit so hard that your body wasn’t ready you took a fall from way higher up whatever it is I thought that that we’re this won’t go much longer I thought for sure I was gonna just literally vomit in front of the audience and and then I found kind of a second wind and then near the end of it I felt like I could have benched that 315 and just been just been repping it out.”

Despite such a terrible injury, The American Nightmare produced a spectacular bout against Seth Rollins and headlined the show. Cody would then be sidelined for months due to his injury. He made his sensational return by winning the Men’s Royal Rumble Match in 2023, and the rest, they say, is history.
