Stephen Amell, widely recognized for his portrayal of the Green Arrow on CW’s “Arrow,” has found himself the subject of jokes, including a jab from John Cena’s character in “Peacemaker.” This particular comment did not sit well with Amell.

In the season finale of “Peacemaker,” Cena’s character made a crude remark about Amell’s Green Arrow, suggesting he attends Brony conventions dressed as part of a My Little Pony character with an inappropriate costume modification.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Amell expressed his displeasure with the insult, describing it as unnecessary and crude. He highlighted that shows like “Arrow” and other CW series often receive less respect compared to DC’s film universe, despite the hard work involved in their production.

Amell noted that while “Arrow” is a significant part of recent DC history, it has frequently been disrespected. He found the comment in “Peacemaker” to be excessive, especially given the effort required to portray a superhero without powers over 23 episodes a year. Amell emphasized that he wasn’t seeking accolades but felt the criticism was unwarranted.

Stephen Amell Reacts to John Cena’s Comment with Frustration

“Yeah, that was a little unnecessary. I didn’t f******* appreciate that at all. It was crude. And by the way, I don’t know if they… okay, I’m just gonna come right out and say this. There was just—there was such, um, between the movies and between Peacemaker a little bit, like, our show was kind of treated like s***, right? Like, I get it, we’re on the CW, I get it, it’s TV, but I also get the fact that, you know, when people think about the most recent iteration of DC, okay, they don’t think about the Snyder Cut, they think about Arrow. And we got crapped on for years and years and years, and this just seemed excessive.

I just remember hearing that and being like, ‘F*** those guys.’ Seriously. Like, I’m up here, I’m working just as hard as anyone else. You know how hard it is to play a superhero with no superpowers for 23 episodes a year? It’s really, really, really hard. And like, I’m not looking for a prize, but maybe don’t s*** on our show.”

Fans are left wondering if Amell’s Green Arrow might make a cameo in “Peacemaker” season 2, as many would love to see that happen.
