The feud between Lynch and Stratus began after the duo lost the WWE Women’s tag team titles a few weeks ago on RAW. However, the aftermath of the contest saw Trish attacking Becky and cementing her status as a heel for the first time in many years.
The former 7-time WWE Women’s champion continued to berate Lynch for weeks. Furthermore, Becky Lynch had been absent from WWE television programming for weeks following the assault from Stratus. However, after the WWE Hall of Famer launched another verbal assault on Becky while also taking shots at her daughter this week on RAW, The Man finally re-emerged back on RAW to take out the legendary WWE superstar.
“Now, she will be found, probably in some dark dank corner of Iowa crying in the corner with her dumb daughter … what, no she is dumb … she doesn’t even know her colors.“
Dave Meltzer on an episode of the “Wrestling Observer Radio, reported that the mega showdown between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus is being planned for WWE SummerSlam this year. However, with Lynch returning to WWE TV and Stratus consistently appearing as well, here are three reasons that this highly anticipated dream match could take place at WWE’s next premium live event, Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
1 Trish Stratus Is A Constant Fixture On RAW These Days
Trish Stratus took a semi-retirement from the squared circle in 2006. However, she has been returning to compete ever since. Furthermore, her last one-on-one encounter came against Becky Lynch’s fellow Fourhorsewoman, Charlotte Flair in 2019. Many fans believed that this was done to extend their rivalry till August for the biggest party of the summer, WWE SummerSlam where the match was actually rumored to take place.
However, with the resurgence of The Man on RAW this week, it seems that WWE is looking to pull the trigger earlier. This could lead to the management scheduling the bout between Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch at Night of Champions, ahead of their original plan for the match.
3 Marquee Match For An Event Like Night of Champions
Over the years, WWE’s shows in Saudi Arabia have been credited as top premium live events, matching the stature of their biggest show, WrestleMania. Furthermore, the country has been reforming its policies in terms of women’s empowerment, allowing female athletes to compete at their stage.
Therefore, this makes the dream showdown between two of the most decorated WWE superstars of all time, Trish Stratus, and Becky Lynch a front-runner for the show. Saudi Arabia officials have always been high on having main-event caliber attractions on the card for their WWE shows. So a historic encounter between Lynch and Stratus seems to be a top marquee attraction for WWE Night of Champions, set to happen on May 24, 2023, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
