WWE recorded one of the most successful years in 2024, which also saw multiple WWE Legends make appearances. The company has used these legendary comebacks to leverage the rise of multiple stars like Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Bron Breakker, Liv Morgan, and others.
Moreover, with many special shows coming up right at the start of 2025, WWE could use legends like the calibre of Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair to garner more attention for their special events. Here are the top five legends we can expect to see return to the company:
5. Mickie James
After a spectacular run in TNA Wrestling the last few years, Mickie James had been out of the wrestling scene for a while until her return as a spectator at WWE Bad Blood Premium Live Event. This sparked rumours that one of the most tenured WWE legends would make her comeback in a bigger role.
With James’ involvement in the upcoming WWE LFG series and her husband, Nick Aldis, at the helm of SmackDown as its General Manager, she could very well return to WWE in 2025. Moreover, her return could also see her get back inside the squared circle against the brightest talent of the women’s division today.
4. Ric Flair
Ric Flair had been away from WWE for some years now. During that time, Flair became an integral part of their rival promotion, AEW. However, that alliance was short-lived, and that could lead to Ric Flair making his comeback to WWE, a place he had always considered his home.
Despite no longer being able to step inside the ring as a competitor, Ric Flair’s unmatched charisma and star power are second to none. This could lead to a possible appearance for WWE, coming as early as Monday Night RAW’s debut show on Netflix on January 6, 2025.
3. Trish Stratus
Trish Stratus had a remarkable run as an in-ring competitor for an extended period. The Diva of the Decade proved that she can still hang with the best competition, with her months of feud with Becky Lynch garnering massive attention, especially their high-profile Steel Cage match at WWE Payback 2023.
While Trish Stratus did make an appearance at the WWE Money in the Bank PLE in 2024 as the host, she has not competed since her last match against Becky Lynch. However, Stratus recently stated that she would be open to returning for a feud if it was a good storyline against the current women’s roster. This could possibly lead to Trish Stratus making her return in 2025 for one more run and proving her worth once again as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time.
2. Rob Van Dam
Rob Van Dam had a spectacular year in 2024, making multiple appearances for both WWE and AEW, citing his status as a free agent. Regarding his WWE return, RVD was a major part of high-profile shows and had a significant presence as part of WWE NXT.
He was last seen on the November 6 episode of NXT from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia and was attacked by NXT superstar Wes Lee. This has left the door open for Rob Van Dam’s return in 2025 to pursue that feud with Wes Lee or other superstars from the main roster.
1. Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan is considered one of the biggest names in professional wrestling history. Despite passing his prime a long time ago, the Hulkster has managed to stay relevant in the modern era through social media, interviews, outside appearances, and projects.
In fact, Hulk Hogan, one of the biggest WWE legends, was expected to make his return to WWE at Saturday Night’s Main Event, having an illustrious history with the event, but did not show up. This could possibly mean that WWE wanted to hold Hulk Hogan’s appearance for a fresh year, having multiple big shows planned, which could become even more magnanimous with the presence of Hulkamania.
