WWE UFC Merger Should Produce These 5 Crossover Matches

WWE UFC merger finally completed its official process on Tuesday, 12th September 2023, and would now serve as the two main giants under the new TKO Group. This merger has been seen as a huge change in the world of combat sports, with the fans of both entities excited to see WWE and UFC under the same umbrella, after being standalone pioneers for years.

The core management team of the new TKO group would see executives like Vince McMahon, Ari Emmanuel, Nick Khan, and Triple H taking over the reins to deliver better quality products to both WWE and UFC fans.

However, with the two core entities under the same group, the hardcore fan base watching them could be in for a treat to witness major crossover matches between WWE & UFC superstars. While there can be many combinations, these 5 dream matches would surely be money-makers for TKO in the future.

5. Seth Rollins Could Get Payback On Colby Covington

WWE UFC merger: Seth Rollins Colby Covington

TKO Group can dig out old altercations between WWE and UFC stars to build up on their crossover matches. One storyline can see the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins embroiled in a heated rivalry with UFC Welterweight sensation, Colby Covington. It was in the year 2019 that Covington had words of disrespect for the Drip God, calling him tough only because he was the boyfriend of a famous female WWE superstar.

“The guy that’s dating The Man. What’s his name? Seth Rollins? Yeah, the little cry baby. I would love to go up against him. He thinks he’s so tough, he thinks he’s so hard cause he’s got a girlfriend that’s famous. It’s pretty much making his career cause he’s dating Becky Lynch. So, I’d love to just go shut him up.

Colby did not stop there and decided to bring Rollins’ now wife Becky Lynch into the mix as well. He even proposed to do a tag team match against Rollins and Lynch, picking her bitter rival at the time Ronda Rousey to be his partner in his bid to embarrass the couple.

What better way. We can even do a tag team match, me and Ronda versus Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. That could be a huge tag team type match. But let me tell you something right now, no one on that WWE roster’s safe if I come over there.”

Seth Rollins never got the chance to express his views on the harsh words of Colby Covington. TKO Group could start to build on Rollins’ silence from all those years and book this highly exhilarating match between Seth and Colby as a part of their WWE UFC merger endeavor.

4. Ronda Rousey Returns To Her Origins To Battle The Man

Ronda Rousey presumably left WWE following her loss against Shayna Baszler in hard-fought MMA rules match at WWE SummerSlam 2023. Moreover, there have been reports of Rousey’s desire to return to UFC for one last run of her career. If that indeed comes true, Rousey could finally encounter her WWE bitter rival in a one-on-one showdown, The Man Becky Lynch.

This blockbuster encounter was supposed to take place at WrestleMania 35 but didn’t after Charlotte Flair was added to the mix. Moreover, WWE again decided to pair Rousey and Flair for WrestleMania 38 instead of putting Lynch and even scrapped the plans for their highly anticipated match for WrestleMania 39. However, Rousey could use the WWE-UFC merger to finally get her hands on Becky, representing her origins against the fury of Becky Lynch representing the land that made The Man.

3. John Cena Meets His UFC Counterpart, Nate Diaz

John Cena made a name for himself in WWE for his larger-than-life persona, in-ring acumen, and most importantly, pinning down his opponents with verbal SmackDowns. However, Cena’s mic ability could meet his match not from the WWE locker room, but the UFC landscape in the form of Nate Diaz.

Both John Cena and Nate Diaz are known for their charismatic and quick-witted mic skills. The build-up to the match would be an epic war of words, with each athlete trying to outdo the other in verbal sparring, creating an electrifying atmosphere and becoming a blockbuster WWE UFC merger match for a crossover show.

2. WWE UFC Merger Could Fulfill Jon Jones’s Wish Of Colliding With A Beast

Brock Lesnar made a huge name for himself in UFC following his first WWE departure in 2004, even reigning as the Heavyweight Champion of the sport at one point. While he continues to enjoy his role as a part-time star attraction in WWE nowadays, Lesnar’s admiration for UFC has remained constant over the years.

Although former UFC President Dana White once mentioned that Brock is done with mixed martial arts, the WWE-UFC merger could lure the Beast Incarnate back into the octagon. Moreover, it could come against the man who has openly declared that Brock doesn’t stand a chance in front of him. That man is Jon Jones. He mentioned it on Instagram, before dropping a huge proclamation on Twitter.

“Brock is way too slow, I’ll embarrass him.”

A crossover match between these two hard-hitting super heavyweights could be a marquee attraction for TKO Group as they begin their run in the world of combat sports with two global giants.

1. Roman Reigns & Conor McGregor Battle It Out For Supremacy

Roman Reigns’ 1000+ day-long built Island of Relevancy could find itself intruded by the Notorious UFC fighter, Conor McGregor. The former UFC Champion has been on the top of his game in his sport, much like The Tribal Chief, making both of them the crown jewel for their respective brands. The fans of both sports have seen a brief social media altercation between the two megastars in the past.

It was during a UFC 202 promotion interview that Conor openly berated WWE talent and proclaimed to lay an easy beatdown on any of them.

““I didn’t mean no disrespect to the @wwe fans. What I meant to say was that I’d slap the head off your entire roster. And twice on Sunday’s.”

This triggered the Head of the Table who gave a befitting reply to the Notorious Fighter.

“Your the size of my leg. Shut up.”

Moreover, McGregor even launched a series of tweets targeted towards Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman earlier this year during WWE SummerSlam. So the higher-ups can view the WWE UFC merger as a beckon of opportunity for TKO Group to produce one of the biggest star-studded combat sport matches of all time pitting Roman Reigns vs. Conor McGregor.
