The scenario of the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 has taken a major shift after John Cena kicked off his highly anticipated farewell tour, which will see him end his in-ring career in 2025. The 16-time WWE Champion made an appearance on WWE RAW on Netflix’s debut show to begin his farewell tour. During his promo, Cena addressed the rumours surrounding the last run of his illustrious WWE career.
Moreover, Cena shocked the fans in attendance for the show when he bluntly said that he did not see himself winning his 17th World title during the farewell tour. But after much consideration and hearing the loud support of the audience, John Cena declared himself for the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble 2025 over the top rope match in hopes of earning a title shot at either of the two World Championships.
Which entry number can lead John Cena to victory in the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 match?
John Cena has been a part of WWE for almost 23 years. However, as he himself admitted, Cena is no longer in the same physical condition at the age of 48 as he was in his prime back in the day. This makes it difficult for him to survive the gruesome Rumble match featuring 29 other competitors if he begins the match from an early number.
However, if John Cena wants to cash in on this opportunity to go to WrestleMania 41 and challenge for his 17th World Championship, an ideal scenario would see him enter the match at a later time in the Men’s Royal Rumble. This could be the case at the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 event as well.
John Cena is no stranger to entering the Men’s Royal Rumble matches late. Over the years, Cena has entered most of his Rumble matches after number 15. In fact, it was in 2008 that Cena entered at number 30 to win his first Rumble, and then in 2013, he entered at number 19 to win his second Rumble match.
However, as far as the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 is concerned, John Cena should enter the Rumble match after the 20th or 25th entrant to have a real chance at winning the over-the-top-rope battle royal. WWE commentator Wade Barrett also pointed this out in the post-RAW on Netflix show. Moreover, John Cena could recreate history by entering last at the number 30 spot and eliminating the field to earn the opportunity to headline his last WrestleMania in a World Championship.
