The path to WWE Royal Rumble 2025 is coming to its conclusion this Saturday at the spectacular Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, Indianapolis. The historic event will take centre stage in front of over 60,000 fans who will witness one of the biggest and most exciting nights in the global juggernaut’s history.
However, there is one particular superstar who is looking to win his first-ever Royal Rumble match and go on to headline WrestleMania 41 for a main event World Championship. But his last two rumble appearances have proven to be disastrous for him.
Moreover, there was a point of commonality between those two nights that the fans might have missed. Nonetheless, the man who suffered on those two nights is none other than CM Punk.
How can CM Punk erase his past two disasters at the WWE Royal Rumble 2025?
CM Punk has made an enthralling comeback since returning to WWE in 2023. The Best in the World has proven to have a lot of gas left in the tank. He has had a captivating feud with Drew McIntyre that was a major highlight of 2024 and headlined the first main event of RAW on Netflix in a winning effort against his longtime arch-nemesis, Seth Rollins.
Following his spectacular successes, CM Punk is now eyeing winning the men’s rumble match at the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 event. The Second City Saint is ready to toss 29 other men to realise his lifelong dream of main-eventing WrestleMania. However, Punk’s history with the event has always worked against him with a major point of commonality.
Back in 2013, CM Punk defended his WWE Championship against The Rock. The night saw his record-setting 434-day reign as champion come to an end at the hands of The Final Boss. Fast-forward to his appearance in the 2024 Royal Rumble, Punk got injured by Drew McIntyre, failed to win the Rumble match and missed out on WrestleMania.
Interestingly, the fans did not realise that both of these historic defeats and their implications happened to Punk on the same date in those respective years, i.e. 27th January. However, this time, Royal Rumble is taking place in February for the first time ever which could change Punk’s luck as well for the match. With the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 only days away, it will be interesting to see if The Best in the World can turn around his luck and win the Royal Rumble.
