WWE has worked three years to give Roman Reigns 1000 days as reigning, defending Undisputed WWE Universal Champion on May 27, 2023. As we celebrate The Head of the Table turning 38 years old today, here is a special look at our list of the Top 5 moments from Roman Reigns 1000 days as the ultimate ruler of the landscape.
5. The Day One Of History: Roman Reigns 1000 Days
They say history begins on the very first day and Roman Reigns played a smart move on the day of claiming the WWE Universal title to begin his historic reign. After returning at WWE SummerSlam 2020, Reigns found himself pitted against Braun Strownman and then-champion, The Fiend Bray Wyatt in a triple threat match for the WWE Universal championship.

During the main event of the WWE Payback 2020 event, The Fiend and Strowman went head to head while Reigns was nowhere to be found. The Tribal Chief entered the match mid-way while both competitors had nearly decimated each other. Reigns took advantage of the carnage and pinned the Fiend after a shattering spear to begin one of the greatest title reigns of all time.
4. Revenge On Seth Rollins: Roman Reigns 1000 Days
Seth Rollins was the man to decide the end of, perhaps one of the greatest factions in WWE, The Shield. The Visionary put a chair in the back of Roman Reigns and dissolved the dominant unit of the Hounds of Justice. While things seemed to have worked out between the former Shield brothers, Roman’s dark side freshen the old wounds.
Reigns finally got to exact revenge for his betrayal at the end of their title clash at the 2022 WWE Royal Rumble event. Much like Rollins did, Reigns attacked him with a chair shot at the back and unleashed his fury with repeated shots, ending their bout in a disqualification win for The Drip God.
3. Replacing The Face That Ran The Place: Roman Reigns 1000 Days
Roman Reigns’ impressive title reign met up against The Face that Ran the Place for over a decade, John Cena. The Cenation Leader returned at the end of WWE Money in the Bank 2021 and weeks of verbal back and forth led to a mega showdown between Cena and Reigns at WWE SummerSlam.

The two G.O.A.T fought in the city of Las Vegas, with the WWE presenting a marquee main event for the Biggest Party of the Summer. In the end, Reigns’ fury proved too much for the Fast X star, with a set of spears putting him down and earning a crucial victory for Reigns in his title reign.
2. The Crowning Of The Undisputed Champion: Roman Reigns 1000 Days
The long and heated rivalry between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar was about to write its third and most important chapter at WrestleMania 38. The Tribal Chief, held the WWE Universal Championship while The Beast Incarnate was the holder of the WWE Championship. The two were set to collide in a Winner Takes All match for the third time on the Grandest Stage of Them all.
The historic WrestleMania main event finally saw Reigns vanquish the Beast at WrestleMania with a huge victory, claiming both World titles and becoming the first-ever Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
1. We Never Saw It Coming: Roman Reigns 1000 Days
From a technical point of view, this moment does not find a place on this list. However, it is the iconic moment that changed everything for Roman Reigns’ career. After WWE struggled to get him over as a pure babyface for years, Reigns made his return after a six-month hiatus following WrestleMania 36.
He came back at the end of the WWE SummerSlam 2020 main event between The Fiend Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship. As Wyatt rose up to celebrate his title win, Roman appeared out of nowhere, knocking down The Fiend with a thunderous spear, and laid a heinous beatdown on both him and Strowman.
This marked the beginning of Roman Reigns’ most historic run in WWE, following which he aligned himself with Paul Heyman and clinched the Universal Title a few weeks later to start his 1000-day approaching title reign.
