Stephanie Vaquer made headlines all over the world with her incredible in-ring career. The Dark Angel officially signed on the dotted line with WWE and became a sensation in professional wrestling, beginning her run in WWE NXT.

Early Life & Real Name

Vaquer was born in San Fernando, Chile, on March 29, 1993. At just eight years old, Stephanie started watching wrestling and was amused by the athleticism she witnessed on TV. Thus, she was determined to become a professional wrestler by the age of thirteen.

Stephanie Vaquer completed her Bachelor’s in Trade and has always been interested in English and Psychology. However, later, Stephanie started her training for professional wrestling and focused entirely on honing her craft to become one of the standout performers in the world of professional wrestling.

Professional Wrestling Career

Stephanie Vaquer made her professional Wrestling debut in February 2009, when she was just 16 years old, while training under Paul Slandering. The earliest documented matches for Vaquer are from August 2010, when she performed as ‘Dark Angel’. Vaquer would make her grand debut in Mexico on December 22, 2013, against Heroina at Arena Coliseo Coacaico.

In 2018, When she slowly started getting recognition for her incredible in-ring prowess, Stephanie Vaquer would further spread her wings and debut in the Japanese Women’s Wrestling promotion Stardom. In the same year, NXT’s Dark Angel participated in a WWE tryout which took place in her home country, Chile.

Traveling the World & NJPW Debut

Even though Stephanie did not get into the WWE after her first tryout, she continued to travel the world and debuted for CMLL in Mexico in August 2019, where she became their first female South American Wrestler. She made a huge name for herself in CMLL, where she won several championships, including the CMLL World Women’s Tag Team Championship and CMLL World Women’s Championship.

NJPW announced that Vaquer would be competing in the Strong Women’s Championship Tournament at Resurgence on May 21, where she reached the semifinals. In March 2024, Stephanie Vaquer won the Strong Women’s Championship at World Wonder Ring Stardom’s Cinderella Tournament and successfully defended her title on several occasions.

AEW & NXT Debut

Stephanie Vaquer finally made it to the big leagues when she confronted AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone and made her AEW debut on May 29, 2024. The duo faces each other in a Title vs. Title match at AEW Forbidden Door, where Mone defeated Vaquer to become the new champion.

Stephanie’s incredible performance against Mone caught the attention of WWE officials and fans worldwide, and she won contracts from both AEW and WWE. On July 11, 2024, it was announced that Stephanie had signed a multi-year deal with WWE. Vaquer made her WWE debut on a live event that took place in Mexico and defeated Isla Dawn to make a statement. Moreover, Stephanie made her NXT debut on October 8th, 2024 edition of NXT and since then has been a prime fixture in the women’s division.
