Fans are hoping Cena will achieve some particular accolades and compete in historic matches before ‘The Time is Up’ for one of the biggest WWE superstars in the history of the company.
However, it is highly probable that fans will retaliate with negativity if they do not see certain sights on the John Cena farewell tour. One of the biggest reasons could be WWE not giving Cena his much-deserved 17th World Championship.
Fans have been clamouring for this for years, and Cena himself addressed the speculation during his appearance on RAW, Netflix’s debut show. At the same time, The Face that Runs the Place himself questioned that, the fans’ huge support led to John Cena reconsidering his decision and declaring himself for the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 match. So, WWE is not booking Cena to win his record-breaking World title in his farewell tour.
Another situation that could lead to a fan backlash is not witnessing some last in-ring showdowns for John Cena. This includes a list of his top rivals, such as CM Punk and The Rock, and even the top-tier superstars of today, such as Cody Rhodes, the current face of the company. With Cena’s farewell tour culminating in December 2025, it remains to be seen what WWE has planned and the fans’ reactions to their creative directions for John Cena.
