Cody Rhodes has established himself as one of the biggest babyfaces of all time in pro-wrestling history. The record-breaking merchandise sales, sold-out house shows, and his deep connection with the WWE Universe back up the previous statement.

Moreover, some of the critics and members of the WWE Universe even believe that The American Nightmare is the most successful babyface of the 21st century. After his decisive win over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, Rhodes is carrying the company on his back to become the next face of WWE.

Cody Rhodes surpasses John Cena as the face of the WWE

Cody Rhodes made his triumphant return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 when he jumped ship from the rival promotion, AEW. Upon returning to the global juggernaut, Cody had only one goal in mind. It was to win the Undisputed WWE Championship, a title that his father, Dusty Rhodes never won, and begin his quest to become the poster boy leading WWE into a different generation.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed the potential of the current Undisputed WWE Champion as the biggest babyface of the WWE in the modern era. Meltzer noted Cody Rhodes’ generated numbers that are even bigger than the ones done by former WWE golden goose, John Cena, which made him the biggest babyface in the promotion‘s history since the Austin/Rock era.

“Cody Rhodes outside of the ring is everything, like he is one of the best Babyfaces they’ve (WWE) ever had, and he’s drawing like it too. Look, his number is bigger than Cena’s. I mean, that would make him the biggest most successful Babyface since the Austin/Rock era.”

Cody Rhodes has already left an indelible mark in the pro-wrestling history. The American Nightmare left WWE in 2016, molded himself into a star, returned to WWE in 2022, and became the biggest babyface of this company in the modern era through his hard work and perseverance that made him surpass the GOAT, John Cena.
