Also known as The Spanish God of AEW, Sammy Guevara is popularly known as one of the four pillars of AEW, along with MJF, Darby Allin, and Jack Perry. With several title reigns already under his belt, many fans believe he has the potential to be the face of the company.
Early Life & Real Name
Born on July 28th, 1993, in Houston, Texas, It was very early in his life when Sammy knew where he saw his future after growing up, which was in professional wrestling. His fascination for the world of professional wrestling grew even further when, back in 2004, he attended a WWE SmackDown event in Houston where he witnessed the likes of Rey Mysterio and Booker T, giving him a dream to pursue in the future.
Sammy Guevera’s real name is Samuel Guevara. His love for professional wrestling grew while he was growing up, and he finally joined Booker T’s school, Reality of Wrestling, in 2010 and made his debut on December 11, 2010.
Romantic Life
Sammy Guevara’s personal life blossomed just as his professional wrestling career progressed as he met the love of his life, and fellow AEW wrestler Taynara Melo. The duo got engaged in June 2022 and married in Orlando two months later.
In May 2023, the couple announced that they were expecting a child, and in November 2023, Tay Melo gave birth to a girl whom the duo named ‘Luna Guevara’.
Professional Wrestling Career
After graduating from Booker T’s school, Sammy made his debut for a major wrestling promotion on January 5, 2013, when he made his debut for NWA. He wasted no time making it big in his wrestling career, as in 2016, he would go on to perform in a major Mexican Promotion, AAA.
In 2017, Sammy Guevara made an appearance in TNA, where he also participated in their tournament. Later, Guevara began wrestling for PWG, where he went head-to-head with the champion and simultaneously performed for the Major Wrestling League, MLW.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW Debut)
In 2019, Sammy Guevara would go on to sign the biggest deal of his young wrestling career as he would go on to sign for the newly formed AEW. Sammy’s charisma and in-ring talent have paid him extremely well, and he has had a successful run since the beginning of the company.
Apart from joining Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle stable, Sammy Guevara has main-evented several AEW PPVs and won several championships. Guevara is a record-tying three times AEW TNT Champion and has won Dynamite awards three times.
